Getting Started in Genealogy

In the history of the world, now has never been a better time to get started on your own family history.

  1. Aim for four generations at first.

  2. Make a plan.

  3. Use free tools and free sites where possible.

    • familysearch.org

    • mobile apps

  4. Ask for help when you need it.

  5. Try the family history center at a local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They normally have people who volunteer to staff the center who only work on genealogy with people. Some who go there are members of church. Others are not. It is okay either way.
