tacit knowledge

tacit knowledge

Knowledge that is personal, context specific, and not so easy to communicate (e.g., intuitions, unarticulated mental models, embodied technological skills).[1] Knowledge so deeply embedded that we are hardly aware of it. Tacit knowledge is typically shared through social means, such as face-to-face dialog, shared experiences, collaboration, and situated learning. This implies a reduced dissemination speed, or can be externalized, which is the conversion of tacit into explicit knowledge.[1]
