John CHANDLER [1] was born [2] on 26 May 1802 in South Carolina. He died on 27 Aug 1879 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He was buried in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas.

John Chandler was listed in Goodspeed’s History of Andrew County, as being one of the earliest settlers in the Benton and Platte Township of Andrew County.

John married Mary Gibson [3] about 1831. Mary Gibson [4] was born [2] on 14 Dec 1801 in Tennessee, USA. She died on 25 Aug 1877 in of Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She was buried in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas.

The 1850 Andrew Coounty, Misssouri census listed the John Chandler household as: Mary, wife; children, William age 17 born in Illinois, Nancy age 16 born in Illinois, Mary age 14 born in Illinois and John age 8 born in Missouri; also the family of Curtis Lanum and wife Margaret and children, Thomas B., Hiram D. and William C.[5]

If this Mary, then was the daughter of Joseph W Gibson (b. abt 1777 in Virginia, d. abt 1857 in , Lincoln, Missouri, USA ) and Susan (Susannah) Hudson (b. abt 1778 in ,,Kentucky) Their children may have included: Mary W.Gibson (1801-1877), Archibald William Gibson (1802-1888), Elizabeth Gibson (1803-), John Hudson Gibson (1806-1886), Nancy Gibson (1807-), William Gibson (1811-), Patsy Gibson (1813-), Malinda Gibson (1818-), Lucinda Gibson , Randolph Gibson, and Susan Gibson. Confirmation needed.

John and Mary had the following children:

(i.) Daughter, Margaret L. CHANDLER was born [2] on 15 Sep 1824. She died on 16 May 1890. She married Curtis Harden LANHAM about 1843. Curtis was born 1813.

(ii.) Son, William CHANDLER was born [2] in 1832 in Illinois.

(iii.) Daughter, Nancy CHANDLER was born [2] in 1833 in Illinois. Her parents lived with her during the 1870 Census.[6]

(iv.) Daughter, Mary Ann CHANDLER was born [2] in 12 Jun 1836 in Illinois. She married Charles Anderson Craig (1835–1913) in 1858 in Guilford, Nodaway, Missouri, USA. She died in 1915.[7]

(v.) Son, John Gibson CHANDLER was born [2] in 1842 in Andrew County, Missouri. He was a rancher. He died 03 Jan 1910 in Toppenish, Yakima, Washington. His death certificate indicates his mother was Mary Gibson, providing proof of her maiden name.[8] John Gibson Chandler is buried at the Zillah Cemetery, Zillah, Yakima County, Washington, USA.

John Chandler is buried in the Rockwall Memorial Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall County, Texas.
