According to family tradition, after Irma died, Luther lived in a hotel and not with Perry and Mildred Jones. The 1930 census shows them living separately well before she died.

The 1920 census shows Luther Baker, M, 25y, born Alabama; wife Irma Baker, F, 24y, born Alabama; dau Mildred Baker, F, 4m, born Alabama; Tom Head, M 22y, born Alabama; Iris Head, F, 19y, born Alabama; Eldridge Head, M, 19y, born Alabama, apparently they had some of the Head family staying with them.
