Thomas Winthrop COLBATH, was born December 1851 in Grape Creek, Gillespie County, Texas. We think the Colbaths settled near Sandy, Blanco county, Texas. His father and mother were unknown to O.S. Lanham, and we later found them to be John C. COLBATH and Martha Matilda Patsy NEEL (see [The_John_C._Colbath_Family] for details) [1] and they had five sons (Siblings of TW Colbath):

  • John COLBATH

  • Thomas Winthrop COLBATH

  • Ambrus COLBATH

  • Hillery COLBATH

  • Alford COLBATH

  • Elizabeth COLBATH

  • Texie COLBATH

  • Marsie COLBATH

  • Rosie COLBATH

Thomas Winthrop married (1) Emmillia (Emma) Lea Dyca BARTON [2], she was born in 1861 in Gillespie, Texas and they had one son and one daughter; John Martis and Cora Colbath.

(i.) Son, John Martis COLBATH, was born in Texas, February 1881.

(ii.) Daughter, Emmillia Cora COLBATH [2], was born in Texas and married a RUSSETT.

After Emma Lea died, Thomas W. married (2) Lucinda "Lou" F KIRK [1] [3] (see photo) in Blanca, Texas on 11 Apr 1891. [3] [4] Lou Kirk was born in 1869 in Missouri as the daughter of Stephen Kirk and Rebecca Hughes. She is listed as Lucinda [5] in the 1870 Census. Interestingly, Thomas' next wife Nancy Ellen Kirk, lived next door to Lou Kirk in the 1870 Census. Stephen and George Kirk are both sons of David Kirk and Margaret Snow, making Lou and Nancy cousins.
