There is good reason to believe that Roger Lanham, born at Burgate, the next village over from Wortham, Suffolk, England was the Father of Josias, [1] baptized 9 April 1590. This would be the same Josias and Mary Tibbold.

Roger LANHAM [1] was born about 1560 in Burgate, Suffolk, England. He was christened on 28 Dec 1587. He died on 28 Jun 1617 in ,Suffolk, England.

Roger married Bridget FULCHER on 14 Nov 1583. Bridget was born before 1583.

They had the following children:

  1. Son, Robert LANHAM was born about 1584 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England. He was baptized on 10 November 1588 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England.

  2. Son, Stephen LANHAM was born before 1587. He died about 30 Nov 1587. He was buried on 30 Nov 1587 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England.

  3. Son, Josias LANHAM [1] was born about April 1590 in Burgate, Suffolk, England. He was christened on 09 Apr 1590 in Burgate, Suffolk,, England. He died in ,,, England. Josias married [1] Mary (Maria) TIBBOLD on 14 Feb 1621/1622 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England. Mary was born [1] about 1588 in ,,, England. She died about 1633.

  4. Daughter, Maria LANHAM was born about 1592 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England. She was christened on 12 Nov 1592 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England.

  5. Son, David (Davidus) LANHAM was born about 1595 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England. He was christened on 14 Apr 1595 in Wortham, Suffolk,, England.

A search of Burgate circa 1560 for the baptism of Roger Lanham who married Bridget in 1583 was conducted, but nothing was found.

Roger LANHAM died in June 1617 and was buried 28 June 1617.

  • Parish registers: WORTHAM baptisms 1590-1605 burials

  • Index to wills proved in the Archdeaconry of Sudbury: 1354-1700, 1660-1857.
