Edward James Holt was born 19 Feb 1857 in Limestone County, Alabama. Both his father and mother were born in Alabama.

Edward married Fannie Scott (Lanham) on 10 Feb 1884 in Rockwall, Texas. Fannie was born Feb 1870 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas.

Edward Holt was shown in the 1880 Rockwall Co, census as living with the Hiram D. Lanham family and a farm laborer.

From the book "History of Rockwall County 1842-1968", it stated that in 1900 the Ed Holts sold the land where the Katy Lake Dam is located for the price of $60.00 per acre. In that day and time this was an unheard of price.

Fannie died , and Edward died 30 June 1913 in Henrietta, Clay, Texas. Both are buried at Henrietta, Clay, Texas. [1]

They had the following children:

(i.) Son, Leslie Holt, was born in Rockwall, Texas on 22 January 1886, and died 6 July 1886, and is buried at Rockwall. [1]

(ii.) Daughter, Ida Holt, was born in Rockwall on 2 August 1887, and died 14 March 1889, and is buried at Rockwall. [1]

(iii.) Son, Robert Erskine Holt, was born in Rockwall on 27 June 1889 and married Jessie W. Coen. They had one son, Erskine Jr. Erksine worked for years on the night shift at a garage in Wichita Falls, Texas. Erskine died 5 April 1968, and Jessie died __ . Both are buried at Granbury, Texas. [1]

(iv.) Son, Willie Clyde Holt, was born at Rockwall on 8 May 1895 and married Edna Lee Usrey, who was born 20 December 1896, at Callisburg, Cooke Co., Texas. Clyde died 6 December 1964 and is buried at Temple, Texas. Edna Lee died 3 April 1976 and is buried at Gainesville, Texas. [1]

(vi.) Daughter, Lella Mae Holt, was born at Rockwall on 8 May 1895 and married James E. Thomas. Lella Mae died 8 August 1972, and James died 15 February 1982 and both are buried at San Angelo, Texas. [1]

(vii.) Daughter, Mansell Dee Holt, was born at Rockwall, 11 October 1899, and married Ethel Mae Cole on 26 December 1923, at Gainesville, Texas. Ethel Mae was born at Callisburg, Texas 28 April 1905. Mansel died 27 December 1982, in Gainesville, Texas and is buried at Callisburg. Ethel Mae continues to live in Gainesville, Texas. [1]
